StudySync – Tech & Learning Best of Show ISTE 2017
StudySync Recognized by Tech & Learning with a Best of Show Award at ISTE 2017
StudySync serves as complete source for English Language Arts instruction for grades 6–12, engaging students while advancing reading, writing, critical thinking, speaking and listening skills
NEW YORK (July 17, 2017) – StudySync, powered by BookheadEd Learning, today announced that its comprehensive blended ELA /ELL (English Language Arts/English Language Learner) program was named as a Best of Show winner by Tech & Learning at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) 2017 Conference and Expo. StudySync’s new podcast series and Unit Creator tool were among the elements distinguishing the program for this award.
Winners were selected by a panel of professional users and editors, who reviewed the submissions that were entered, and judged the products and services that were featured in the exhibit hall. The Best of Show winners were recognized as having the most impact in the classroom and potential to be game changers in education technology.
Created for grades 6-12, StudySync uses modern technology and compelling program elements – a rich media library of more than 1,200 fiction and nonfiction texts and text excerpts, broadcast‐quality video lessons, online writing and peer review – to motivate students, inspire intelligent dialogue, and stimulate academic collaboration. Exclusively distributed by McGraw-Hill Education, this engaging multimedia approach builds confidence and encourages student participation at every level.
With its new Unit Creator feature launched at ISTE, now teachers can create their own unique, specialized units from StudySync’s rich content. The tool consists of a template that enables teachers to add multiple lessons from StudySync’s curriculum libraries, selecting and customizing materials from the program’s repository of multimedia resources in order to meet their exact instructional needs.
The podcast series, launched in April, is designed to help students improve important listening and critical thinking skills. The first series, titled “School of Thought,” explores students’ views on 21st century learning in six weekly episodes covering topics such as school design, the importance of homework and extracurriculars, and ideal school schedules. Students draw upon the podcast audio content as they craft written responses to daily “Blasts,” short current-event reading and writing assignments, as well as engage in thoughtful discussions on the various topics covered.
“One of our main tenets is to help teachers teach their way, and so we are always looking to expand teachers’ options for honing students’ skills,” said Robert Romano, Co-Founder and CEO of StudySync. “We’re honored to have been recognized as one of the best among all the products evaluated during the conference.”
StudySync is a comprehensive 6-12 ELA/ELL curriculum that offers powerful digital instruction with full print support accessible for all learners. Flexible, engaging, and literature-rich, StudySync brings together fiction and nonfiction texts with video and other multimedia elements to advance students’ reading, writing and critical thinking skills. StudySync — an anywhere, anytime, any device experience — offers English language arts instruction, interdisciplinary collaboration, peer-to-peer review, assessment, and a digital library that is searchable by genre, theme, grade and Lexile® level.
